Communication theory 101

The science and art of communication is based in theory. We have published a number of white papers on different aspects of communication over the last couple of years and have just uploaded a paper the focuses on core communication theory and provides contextual links to the earlier white papers focused on specific aspects of communication. To read more, download the white paper.

  1. Patrick,
It might be worth considering some of the issues raised in http://eight2late.wordpress.com/2011/05/19/on-the-meaning-and-interpretation-of-project-documents/; which goes further than the basic ‘sender-receiver’ model; I’d go even further than K though, and suggest you also consider language-action theory (http://web.squ.edu.om/med-Lib/med/net/e-pathways-net/Docs/Language-Action%20Perspective.htm).

Communication also has to deal with the complexity of professional and organisational culture boundaries, the emotional states of the parties and the prominence of the context (Buehler’s model partly deals with this, I think.)
